Young Main Street Committee
MAIN STREET ENTERPRISE

CREATING | INSPIRING | RETHINKING

The Main Street Enterprise Board has developed a "Young Main Street" Committee which consists of individuals ages 14 - 25 who are interested in participating in Main Street projects.

Our Projects

INCUBATOR BEAUTIFICATION

The Young Main Street Committee has developed a goal to beautify the incubator as well as it's location.

In March, the YMS Committee worked together to pressure wash the brick wall that borders the empty lot prior to the arrival of the incubator container. The group also trimmed back the beautiful rose bushes lining the walk way.

The YMS Committee worked together to design a mural to wrap the container. The artists were inspired by the Main Street Enterprise tagline "deeply rooted, ever rising". The mural depicts roots growing into camellias , the Alabama state flower, in multiple areas on the container. One side of the container will feature a sunset scene with a backlit Boll Weevil Monument and the back side of the container will have a "selfie station. The YMS Committee presented their mural design concept to Council on March 21st and the concept was approved.

In April, volunteers gathered to begin the container makeover. The container was repainted with a new coat of a blue that matches the Main Street Enterprise branding.

Over the next few weeks, the YMS volunteers will be worked hard to trace and paint the mural onto the container. All paint was donated by local business, Enterprise Paint & Industrial. The mural was completed in May of 2023 and is a perfect photo opportunity for visitors!

WHOVILLE SCAVENGER HUNT

In 2022, the Young Main Street Committee was formed and selected their first project: The Whoville Scavenger Hunt. The committee worked together to develop fun riddles that would lead participants to find the Grinch's heart.  This project was overseen by the Promotion Committee.

SPOOKY IN THE CITY

The Young Main Street Committee's first project took place in October of 2022. The Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department was hosting an event called "Spooky in the City" in which participants visited 10 "Spooky Stops" around the City. Downtown Enterprise was selected as one of the spaces.

Young Main Street transformed the historic train depot into Oz by adding a yellow brick road, lollipop and tulle décor and even a tornado! Volunteers dressed up as the Wizard of Oz characters and welcomed hundreds of participants to downtown.
