Design Committee
MAIN STREET ENTERPRISE

PLANNING | EDUCATING | MOTIVATING
The Design Committee is an essential part of the comprehensive revitalization of the district. Good design (from the shop windows to rehabilitated buildings) sends positive messages about the district being a special, high-quality kind of place.
Our Projects
THE NOOK: PLACEMAKING PROJECT
Located at 123 South Main Street, a small Enterprise Public Library parking lot will soon become a gathering space for the community. This property was selected to be the home of the new Main Street Business Incubator Container and the Design Committee is pursuing beautification of the area to give the space new life. MASTER FURNISHING PLAN
The Main Street Enterprise Design Committee walked the district and mapped out potential locations for bump outs, benches, trash receptacles and bike racks. The committee developed a master furnishing plan and is actively working toward implementing bump outs on Main Street.

IMPLEMENT DOWNTOWN FURNISHINGS
The Main Street Enterprise Design Committee worked hard to develop a master furnishing plan and are excited to put it into action.
The first step is ordering benches for the district. The Enterprise Rotary Club donated funds to allow MSE to order the first four (4) benches which should be installed by the end of 2023.

ALABAMA POWER GATEWAY GRANT
In the Fall of 2021, Main Street Enterprise received an Alabama Power gateway grant. In 2022, the grant funding was used to build a sign to welcome visitors traveling into downtown on Lee Street.
MASTER PLAN VISUALIZATION
In 2022, Main Street Enterprise in collaboration with Friends of Main Street hosted a strategic planning meeting where wants and wishes for the downtown district were discussed at length.
This meeting aided Main Street Enterprise in creating a master plan visualization that encompasses citizen voices.

INCREASING PARKING
In 2021, Main Street Enterprise collaborated with a private property owner to convert a downtown property into a parking lot with 70+ parking spaces.
The new parking lot addressed safety concerns of parking on Main Street as well as created convenience for downtown shoppers, diners, & visitors.
