217 SOUTH MAIN STREET

You may have noticed this beautiful historic building located at 217 South Main Street while visiting Downtown Enterprise. One of the oldest structures in Enterprise, the present church is a good example of the High Victorian Gothic style that was popular for church architecture around the turn-of-the-century.

 

Today, the structure still stands tall and hosts the First Methodist Church of Enterprise congregation of over 800 parishioners. An Alabama Historical Commission marker stands on the property to acknowledge the historical significance of the building.

 

Main Street Enterprise aims to preserve our historic buildings while encouraging continued and modern use. The congregation continues to maintain the historic church and has since erected 3 additional buildings to host various services and programs.
